The Role

Within the Health & Benefits LOB we have developed BenefitsAccess - a system designed to offer our clients a way to manage their employee benefits packages on a global scale.  As a BenefitsAccess configurer you will elicit requirements and configure benefits plans for local and/or global clients.  This will involve analysis of the design documentation and data provision; set up of rules and rates; building interfaces and writing the reports needed to administer the various client arrangements.

This is largely a lead configuration role, but will include client facing consulting to discuss and clarify benefit requirements.  You will also work in the more technical areas of the system, this could involve working with client data and/or creating reports and payroll files.  Both will require a logical approach and strong attention to detail.

Performance Objectives: 



  • Utilise knowledge of business and appropriate systems to consult on the implementation and on-going support of benefits clients.

  • Participation in client project work.

  • Build and test benefits for clients including:

    • Analysing and interpreting requirements and highlighting any problems

    • Set up of eligibility rules

    • Set up of rates and funding rules

    • Data analysis and reconciliation

    • Interface processing

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal and is able to articulately adapt style for various purposes and audiences



  • Assist in the development of the BenefitsAccess system, utilising your own experiences and ideas as well as those of your clients.

  • Acquire and develop knowledge of specific tools and processes including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools, SQL.

  • Prepared to put in the extra effort when needed to meet challenging test deadlines.

  • Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude, overcoming any problems as they arise.

  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with any obstacles and setbacks.


  • Show initiative and leadership for more junior less experienced team members on client projects, but equally prepared to take instructions from others where appropriate in order to contribute to projects of varying nature across the whole department.

  • Participation in day to day support work.

  • Ideally educated to degree level.

  • Good understanding of benefits administration.

  • Good understanding of data and data manipulation, ideally with experience of working with ETL tools.

  • Self motivated and ability to work on own and to tight timescales.

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Strong problem solving skills and a logical mind to be able to analyse data and ‘write’ eligibility and calculation rules.

  • Positive attitude towards change and organisational development.

  • Strong knowledge of Excel and manipulation of data

  • Knowledge of SQL would be useful.
