Data Architect
Location: London


Reporting to the Chief Architect the successful candidate will be expected to own and define the data architecture across Capital, Wholesale and Reinsurance (CWR) businesses.   Working closely with the business, chief architect and senior technology management team, the data architect will be expected to:
  • Work with Business Leaders to identify immediate and long terms priorities and opportunities across the CWR Data Space
  • Work closely with the Chief Data Officer and Group Architecture to ensure CWR Data strategy aligns with the global vision and policies
  • Work with Information Security teams to ensure appropriate data controls are in place
  • Document the As-Is and future state of the CWR Data space
  • Set policies, standards and guidelines for CWR and work closely with CWT technology programmes to ensure they are in compliance.
  • Define a data roadmap that support the strategy enabling the delivery of the business needs
  • Identify opportunities for data management innovation and how these can be applied to add business insight and value
     
Architectural Oversight
  • Define, maintain and deliver a Data Strategy & Architecture
  • Provide a non-technical interpretation of the Data Strategy to the business
  • Define a roadmap of deliverables, business benefits and milestones to deliver the strategy
  • Work closely with the Technology delivery teams to ensure programmes of change are aligned with the data strategy
  • Engage central group technology/architecture to evolve a cohesive data strategy for CWR that compliments the central group strategy
  • Work with central group technology/architecture to own and flesh out the Enterprise Data Model to ensure it represents and aligns with the CWR Business Model
  • Contribute to the design of data models and architecture for use by Analytics and Business Intelligence
  • Be seen as the ‘Go To Person’ for all things data
  • Ensure data governance, security, lineage and management have frameworks in place to ensure WTW Re is in compliance with key compliance requirements
  • Engage actively in the Data Community of WTW
  • Engage with CWR Governance processes on programme change to ensure the data aspect of change is considered and aligns with the data strategy
  • Define a strategy for data within the cloud that ensures Data Confidentiality and Security is catered for
  • Define Technical Architecture patterns for working with data
  • Help evolved the business understanding and view of data to enable WTW to digitise and maximise the benefit from using data as a key business enabler/change.

Functional Skills and Experiences
  • 8+ years’ experience working in an architectural role in a large organisation
  • Extensive problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrate experience and success in delivering a step change in direction/thinking in an organisation
  • Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Service-oriented Architectures, Event-Driven Architectures
  • Relational & NoSQL storage technologies
  • A good understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches
  • Data modelling understanding and experience
  • Appreciation of development and project life-cycles
