The Business

Investment, Risk and Reinsurance

Our sophisticated approach to risk helps clients free up capital. We work in close concert with investors, reinsurers, and insurers to manage the equation between risk and return.  Blending advanced analytics with deep institutional knowledge, we reveal new opportunities to maximize performance.

The breadth and depth of data used by the Investment Line of Business in respect of its client servicing operations has expanded greatly over recent years. The Investment Data Team was set up to ensure that accurate and complete data are available when and where they are needed.

The Role

The Investment Data Team is looking to hire a analyst to support the data projects; key aspects of the role include:

  • Maintaining and monitoring existing data feeds

    • Troubleshooting problems

    • Managing changes and additions to the feeds

    • Reporting on accuracy and completeness of the data to management

  • Developing robust processes to meet the changing needs of the business

    • Working with external partners to arrange new feeds

    • Working closely with the in-house Systems Team to bring the data efficiently into Willis Towers Watson databases.

    • Develop robust processes to ensure new feeds are punctual, accurate and complete.

  • Build knowledge and expertise around the databases and their uses, becoming a recognised expert in the business on investment data.

  • The Investment Data Team deals with a range of data types to support a number of different parts of the business:

    • Data types include: market and economic data, client accounting and performance data, and investment and administrative information about asset managers and our business

    • These support areas of the business including research, portfolio construction, trading and reporting.

  • Additional ad-hoc work may include working with the Towers Watson Investment Management funds business and the Client Reporting Team. 

    The role will evolve over time as old projects are completed and new projects are started; there is opportunity for advancement within the role and flexibility in the long-term career path at Willis Towers Watson.

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Minimum of A-Level standard of Education (or equivalent)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • To be comfortable and have the confidence to liaise with people at all levels
  • Ability to work on own initiative when required, as well as in a team
  • A results orientated individual who has a logical and analytical method of working
  • Confident computer user, comfortable learning new tools and programmes quickly
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office programmes and an interest in enhancing these skills (advanced Excel knowledge desirable)
  • VBA and/or SQL knowledge desirable
  • Relevant degree desirable
