The Health and Benefits GB practice is a specialist centre of excellence in all aspects of health, wellbeing and protection consulting for corporate clients.  With more than 200 consultants and support staff (including 20 qualified medical clinicians) this team supports the design, financing and management of integrated health solutions that are tailored to meet clients' needs.

The Role

Overview of the role:


Working closely with the relevant market and Line of Business (LOB) Account Directors across the UK business, you will be responsible for helping grow our portfolio of clients.  Building relationships with senior individuals across our TMOs and raising the profile of Towers Watson will be a core aspect of the role.


Performance Objectives



  • Mentor and coach members of pursuit and client teams to develop selling and relationship management skills and to maximise our success rate


Client Focus

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of existing TW and new to TW prospects;

  • Manage prospects through the sales process from discovery to contractual agreements;

  • Research prospects’ business, buying habits, competitive landscape and leverage that data/insights to inform business planning and creation of chase teams within Towers Watson
  • Develop client/prospect account plans/strategies and drive execution of action plans

  • Become influential at many levels of the prospect organisation to promote new business.



  • Promote and model the principles of effective business development and client management throughout the company

  • Develop a broad understanding of the Health and Group benefits space and TW’s key differentiators

  • Develop broad understanding of Towers Watson’s services and products

  • Understand and stay current on prospects’ business situation, strategy and HR, risk, and finance needs

  • Preparing and submitting formal business tenders and proposals

  • Ability to articulate in meetings, in written communications and in formal presentations, the overall Towers Watson proposition and specifically the features and benefits of our products.



  • Accurately record pipeline and sales activity on CIS
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets in new business revenue
  • Oversee procurement and contract/commercial terms negotiations

Ensure that client/prospect relationships are secure and financially sound, and that all parties have a clear understanding of Towers Watson financial arrangements, policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Educated to degree level

  • Experience of business development in a consulting environment or financial services sector

  • Successful track record in selling solutions to senior stakeholders

  • Understanding of private medical, life assurance, Income protection and flexible benefits arrangements

  • Ability to identify appropriate prospective clients

  • Ability to generate a need with clients for our services and products

  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the client-facing environment

  • Fluent in English. Additional languages are welcome
