The Role
 
The role focuses on the delivery of technology projects for the Capital, Wholesale and Reinsurance segment of the company.
 
The Project Management responsibilities will include:
  • Define, plan, manage and deliver the project work activities
  • Complete project set up and governance, including creating project mandates and Business Cases, develop and implement project mobilisation
  • Project delivery
  • Identify and manage risks and issues, defining actions to mitigate; escalating issues as appropriate
  • Financial accountability against approved budget
  • Agree Stakeholder Communications Matrix and plan
  • Provide regular project transparency by reporting project status

Programme of work description
 
The scope of the IT change portfolio covers a variety of businesses (from complex Reinsurance to start-up Underwriting operations). The projects within the portfolio aim to deliver key business outcomes including enabling growth, moving into new markets and improving the quality of service provided to customers. To deliver these business outcomes there is emphasis on a number of key areas including digitising the business, improving analytics and a focus on data.
 
The portfolio is delivered using a variety of technology providers from in-house bespoke development to the purchase of off the shelf software solutions. There are also a range of methodologies used across the team to ensure delivery; Agile SCRUM and waterfall are the two main methods. The successful applicant will need to be able to lead a multi-location project team, as well as aligning with other Project Managers within the IT change portfolio. This role will report directly to the IT Portfolio and Change Lead.
 
Knowledge, skills & experience required
 
Essential:
  • Experience of driving and implementing successful technology projects
  • Proven experience of SCRUM and Waterfall project delivery
  • Experience of managing full IT project lifecycle from idea through to hand-over to operational support
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to scope, define and deliver a programme of work, aligning and managing project objectives, tasks and deliverables
  • Management of project RAID log, resource allocation and financial budgets
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in diverse and virtual teams, and within a matrix global organisation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, to report on progress against agreed deliverables and to highlight / escalate any issues or barriers to delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Advanced MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio)
  • APMP or Prince2 qualified
 
Desired / advantageous
  • Worked with PMO to deliver Agile project whilst complying with corporate governance gate/check point procedure
  • Scrum Master Certified
  • Knowledge of the Insurance Industry
  • Planview experience
  • Microsoft TFS experience
