The Business

Our Health and Benefits (HB) business helps large and mid-size clients control soaring health and welfare plan costs, improve health outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions.

The Pharmacy Group Purchasing unit (RxGP) is a unique specialty group within HB, whose main goal is to provide employers a pharmacy benefit solution that transforms the current business model and management processes for pharmacy benefit programs, and re-establish employer control over cost, quality and delivery effectiveness. It leverages the collective market share of its participating employers to purchase pharmacy benefit management services in a financial model based on the principles of transparency and pass through. The Willis Towers Watson Rx Collaborative (RxC) is the largest employer coalition and the only one offering a product with complete financial transparency.

The Role

As an RxC Account Management Consultant you will manage the development and delivery of the RxC/PBM Service Strategy for RxC clients. You will serve as a client advocate within the PBM and will escalate and assist in resolving major client issues/requests with PBM senior management.

You will oversee the PBM execution of the defined RxC service delivery model including executive oversight of PBM implementations and creating best practices and service standards to ensure best in class service is provided to our RxC clients.

Performance Objectives:


  • Serve as a continuous advocate for clients and client teams to provide information, clarification, and guidance on pharmacy account management related issues
  • Manage client and client team expectations and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Participate in client calls as requested by the client team

Excellence and Innovation
  • Develop and update best practices for joint account teams, implementation and plan changes; update joint team roles/responsibilities
  • RxC Group-level audits: Support the annual operational assessment of PBM partners which includes development of operational assessment questionnaire, attending the PBM on-site visits and contributing to the client deliverable
  • Centers of Excellence (COE): Participate in at least two internal Willis Towers Watson Centers of Excellence including but not limited to the RxC Operations COE. Lead RxC Operations COE projects
  • Evaluate performance guarantees and financial risk assumed by PBMs. Negotiate performance guarantee improvements with PBM partners for each new contract generation
  • Communicate new process/procedures as well as changes/enhancements to the service model; resource assignments, operational issues and key PBM deadlines


  • Lead and manage weekly calls with PBMs
  • Serve as RxC subject matter expert for project managers and pharmacist consultants for RxC process and procedures. Conduct monthly calls with project managers to review current status of service and relevant RxC/PBM information
  • Partner with PBM leadership and pharmacy practice division leads to enhance service delivery model by facilitating and leading quarterly service calls with PBM account management leadership and pharmacy practice division leads
  • Develop and deliver RxC training for new hires in pharmacy practice

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of experience as an account manager, account executive or equivalent in a benefits consulting/brokerage firm, PBM, insurance company, or similar environment
  • PBM experience preferred
  • Well organized and detail oriented; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to respond to all communications professionally and effectively, in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams
  • Enjoy and excel in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to develop lasting relationships with clients both internal and external
  • Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it
  • Self starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone. Adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously and adhering to strict project deadlines
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
  • Bachelors degree required
