Our business is developing in exciting new ways and at the forefront of these is our effort to support more clients in specialist areas of their asset portfolio (eg, equity, liquid alternatives, private markets etc). Our large team of investment professionals, spanning capital markets, portfolio management and fund selection creates a unique platform from which to continue to grow our business in specialist areas. This is a key focus of Inv2020, our strategic plan.
The team responsible for this part of our business is the Specialist Portfolio Solutions or SPS team. SPS are client-friendly, subject matter experts with a commercial focus responsible for driving growth in our specialist solutions business.
This role provides the candidate with an opportunity to join SPS, a growing part of the business, as a Senior Equity Portfolio Specialist.
The successful candidate will work closely with existing WTW clients and prospects to improve their equity portfolios. WTW runs a commingled equity manager of managers product, the Global Equity Focus Fund (GEFF) and is currently contracting with a UK investment trust to manage a segregated global equity portfolio pursuing the same strategy. The high profile nature of the investment trust combined with exceptional current performance of GEFF creates a significant tailwind for our commercial activities in this area.
Your role will be to embed our equity solutions into as many portfolios as possible by driving the sales process from start to finish: engaging with clients/prospects on their equity portfolios, leveraging your subject matter expertise to emphasise WTW credibility in managing equity portfolios and maintaining the client relationship as a trusted advisor post-appointment.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining a go-to market strategy in our equity solutions
Working with senior colleagues to assess market opportunities across the globe, prioritise sales channels and align resourcing focus
Developing clear market positioning and messaging for our equity solutions
Understanding competitive dynamics for our equity solutions
Working with Advisory Portfolio Managers and Client Leads to ensure they are aware of the benefits that GEFF can have on client portfolios and conversant in WTW’s edge in equity solutions
Be the ‘go to’ subject matter expert within the business for equity solutions
Leading live pursuit processes, partnering with internal colleagues to tailor the message to our clients and displaying business development discipline through the process
Post-appointment, working closely with other WTW colleagues to lead the relationship in equity solutions
Overseeing the preparation, review and despatch of client papers
Sales support and discipline
Partnering with regional Business Development functions and Advisory Portfolio Managers across the globe to prepare presentations and other sales material for prospects
Oversee collation of, and analysis, Management Information
Job RequirementsThe Requirements
Subject matter expertise of Investment products and significant (7+ years) relevant industry experience from Asset Management or Client Consulting Sales, preferably in equities
Proven track record in developing and closing new business in prior roles and a display of broad business development skills, including presentation/pitching skills, client/colleague empathy and urgency
Team player with demonstrated aptitude at forging strong industry and internal partnerships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised individual able to deliver timely and accurate work, often at short notice.
Ability to create and deliver persuasive sales messaging
Commitment to providing a ‘best in class’ service to clients
Ability to build strong networks internally in the Investment business and to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
- Natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
